Reviews for ZANNA, DON'T!

MINNPOST.COM - "The show finally made its area premiere Friday night under the auspices of Minneapolis Musical Theatre, and it's still a delightful fantasy, full of humor, warmth and hope."  CLICK HERE for full review.

MINNEAPOLIS STAR TRIBUNE - "It's nice to see that Minneapolis Musical Theatre's move from Hennepin Stages to the more upscale Illusion Theater hasn't dampened the theater's quirky sensibility."  CLICK HERE for full review.

ST. PAUL PIONEER PRESS - "Only the most determined curmudgeon would argue with the proposition that life goes better with a little magic fairy dust. Minneapolis Musical Theatre presumably agrees, with its staging of Zanna, Don't! representing a nicely escapist diversion, a goofy thing with ample charm."  CLICK HERE for full review.

HOW WAS THE SHOW.COM - "The young MMT cast tears into this material with never-let-go gusto. Their acting (aided by the smart direction/choreography of Steven Meerdink) is broad, buoyant, hyper-energized, but never self-conscious." - CLICK HERE for full review.

LAVENDER MAGAZINE - "Tim Acito and Alexander Dinelaris have dubbed their shrewd little stage musical gem A Musical Fairy Tale. They soar as the playwrights, composers, and lyricists in what is perhaps one of the best pieces ever written for stage or film about one of the most overwrought of genres, the American high school comedy. This one being congealed in music. But Acito and Dinelaris have made the genre truly fascinating by imagining a high school where gay is the norm and straight is not only taboo, but unthinkable." - CLICK HERE for full review.

10th Anniversary Season!

Minneapolis Musical Theatre is thrilled to announce our 2009-2010 season!

GREAT!

MMT has secured the rights to the area premiere of THE GREAT AMERICAN TRAILER PARK MUSICAL!!!  Armadillo Acres is Florida's most exclusive mobile home community.  But when a stripper on the run comes between an agoraphobic housewife and her tollbooth collector husband, the hurricane of laughter begins to brew.  Complete with a trashy Greek chorus of trailer park divas, this campy, caustic musical fable is rife with adultery, sleaze and murderous ex-boyfriends.  "South Park meets Desperate Housewives in this big-hearted new musical comedy." - NY Sun

BIG!

Come along for the adventure of a lifetime in BIG RIVER: THE ADVENTURES OF HUCKLEBERRY FINN!  Join Huck Finn and the runaway slave Jim on a musical trip down the Mississippi River in Mark Twain's classic tale.  Their adventures are hilarious, suspenseful and heartwarming.  This musical is propelled by Roger Miller's award winning score and brings to life all your favorite characters, including a rascally pair of river drifters, a grieving heiress and - of course - Tom Sawyer.  "A rousing, high spirited show that sets your hands to clapping, your feet to stomping and your heart to rise within you!" - WCBS-TV

SURPRISING!

Leave it to MMT to put a surprising twist on the classic musical MAME ... MMT co-founder, Kevin Hansen (recently ZaZa in La Cage aux Folles) will assume the title role.  Mame's wild, adventurous spirit is inside everyone who lives for the moment and believes that 'life is a banquet!'  In the height of the roaring 20's, ten-year-old Patrick is sent to live with his larger-than-life Auntie Mame, where he's exposed to her wealthy friends and free-wheeling lifestyle.  Both Mame and Patrick's lives are turned upside down as they struggle to form a family through wild, turbulent times and still live life to its fullest.   "In an era of global uncertainty and angst, Jerry Herman's joyful classics seem like tonics for the soul." - Backstage West
